Body

Liposuction in Seattle.

Liposuction reshapes specific areas through small incisions. It changes contour, not weight, and works best on skin that will tighten afterwards.

My note

Liposuction is often sold as easy. The procedure is small; the judgement is not. Taking too much from one area leaves a dent that is hard to correct.

If your skin will not tighten afterwards, I will tell you, and we will talk about what would actually help.

Dr. Thea Kinnear

Who it suits

  • Flanks, belly, thighs, arms or under the chin that hold fat regardless of effort
  • People near a steady weight with skin that still has spring
  • Not a replacement for weight loss

What I will ask you

  • Which areas bother you, standing and seated
  • Your weight history
  • Skin quality in each area

The day

  1. Local anesthesia with sedation, or general for larger areas
  2. One to three hours depending on areas; your plan gives your time
  3. Home the same day in a compression garment

Recovery, week by week

  • First weekSoreness like a hard workout, and bruising. Walking from day one.
  • Weeks two to threeMany return to desk work. Compression continues.
  • Weeks four to sixMost return to exercise when cleared.
  • Months three to sixSwelling settles and the final contour shows.

A typical course, not a promise. Your own calendar comes with your plan.

Fee

From $ owner to $ owner

One written fee: surgeon, anesthesia and the surgical suite. Paying over time

What moves the fee within that range:

  • How many areas
  • Local or general anesthesia
  • Whether it is combined with another procedure

Risks

Risks include contour irregularities, numbness, fluid collection, skin changes, and, rarely, injury to deeper structures. We discuss which apply to the areas you are considering.

No result can be guaranteed. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons publishes plain-language patient information at plasticsurgery.org.

A patient letter

I asked about four areas. She suggested two and explained why. I trusted that more than a yes.

Questions

Will the fat come back?

The fat cells removed do not return, but remaining cells can grow with weight gain. A steady weight keeps the result.

How many areas can be done at once?

That depends on your health and the total volume. Your plan sets a safe limit.
