Face

Facelift and neck lift in Seattle.

A facelift lifts the deeper tissue of the lower face and neck, then sets the skin over it without pulling. The goal is that you look rested, not altered.

My note

The facelifts people notice are the ones done to the skin alone. Skin pulled tight looks pulled. I lift the layer underneath and let the skin lie where it naturally falls.

I will also tell you when a facelift is more than you need. Sometimes a neck lift, or nothing yet, is the better answer.

Who it suits

  • Jowls that blur the line of the jaw
  • Loose skin or bands in the neck
  • Deep folds from the nose to the mouth that make you look tired when you are not
  • People who are healthy, do not smoke, and want a change friends describe as rested

What I will ask you

  • What you see in the mirror, and what you want to keep
  • Photographs from ten or fifteen years ago, if you have them
  • Your health history and medicines, in the private part of the visit
  • Who will be with you the first night home

The day

  1. You arrive in the morning at our accredited surgical suite
  2. Anesthesia is given by a board-certified anesthesiologist
  3. The operation takes several hours; your plan gives the expected length
  4. Most people go home the same evening with a caregiver, or stay one night nearby

Recovery, week by week

  • First weekSwelling and bruising peak around day two or three. You rest at home with your head raised. We see you within a few days.
  • Week twoStitches come out. Many people feel ready for short walks and quiet errands.
  • Weeks three to fourMost visible bruising has faded. Many return to desk work and social plans, with some swelling still present.
  • Months three to twelveSwelling settles slowly. Scars soften and fade over the year.

A typical course, not a promise. Your own calendar comes with your plan.

Fee

From $ owner to $ owner

One written fee: surgeon, anesthesia and the surgical suite. Paying over time

What moves the fee within that range:

  • Whether the neck is included
  • Whether eyelid or brow surgery is done at the same time
  • Anesthesia and facility time, which follow the length of the operation
  • Whether you stay one night in aftercare

Risks

Every operation carries risk. For a facelift these include bleeding under the skin, infection, nerve injury that affects movement or feeling, poor scarring, and asymmetry. We go through each one, and how often we see it, at your consultation.

No result can be guaranteed. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons publishes plain-language patient information at plasticsurgery.org.

A patient letter

I was afraid of looking surprised. I look like myself on a good day, and nobody at work has asked what I did.

Questions

Will people be able to tell?

The aim is that they cannot say what changed, only that you look well. The incisions sit in the natural creases around the ear and into the hairline.

How long does a facelift last?

Your face keeps ageing after surgery, so nobody can promise a number of years. A good lift resets the clock rather than stopping it.

Am I too young or too old?

There is no set age. What matters is your health and what is actually causing the change you see.
